Beethoven Nowadays

Patricia Kopatchinskaja and her concerts weave together topics of the past, present and future into a truly unique dialogue. Joined by Finnish pianist Joonas Ahonen, she brings a fresh perspective to three of Beethoven’s violin sonatas – masterpieces that we think we know inside out, yet still hold many secrets. Through unconventional interpretations, Kopatchinskaja challenges our listening habits. She pairs these iconic works with two world premieres: a composition of her own, signed as “PatKop”, and a newly commissioned piece by Márton Illés, a Hungarian composer trained by Detlev Müller-Siemens and Wolfgang Rihm. Overall, the concert is going to be a captivating exploration trip that bridges the classical and the contemporary!
