The starting point for the ski route is the parking lot at the Lauenen ski lift or at the Hotel Alpenland. Here the route begins and leads along the ski slope to the end of the ski lift. Attention, as a ski tourer please ascend beside or at the edge of the slope. After the ski lift, follow the forest clearing uphill continuously towards the southwest. Soon an open alpine pasture opens the view to the surrounding high alpine peaks. Through the wonderfully fragrant fir forest the route follows the summer hiking path to the "Chrine" – the pass that separates the valleys of Lauenen and Gsteig.

From now on the route runs on the Gsteig side of the valley and leads beneath the west side of the ridge back to the "Hinderi Wispile" and from there further in the direction of south, up to the flat summit of Walliser Wispile.

The ascent is rewarded with a magnificent panorama of the surrounding mountain landscape and the charming village of Gsteig lying deep down in the valley. Particularly impressive is the imposing pyramid of Spitzhorn, which towers directly in front of the tour participants.

By the way, the name Walliser Wispile comes from the fact that it is the extension of the Wispile towards the Valais.

A short (or a somewhat longer) break – and then a beautiful descent back to the valley awaits as a reward. This leads either along the ascent track, or for those who want a different route, you ski back to Lauenen via "Längelowene" and "Höji". Alternatively, you can descend on the other side to Gsteig.

The ski tour can also be started from Gsteig. Here is the Gsteig – Walliser Wispile tour. https://www.gstaad.ch/planen-buchen/tour/detail/gsteig-walliser-wispile-1982-m-ue-m
