Georg Friedrich Handel is one of the most outstanding and significant personalities in music history. His artistic ambition, creative power and sensitivity, his openness to the world, education, and tolerance made him a true European even during his lifetime.
The audience loved Handel's operas and oratorios. His oratorio "Messiah," which he wrote, for example, in just 23 days, is considered one of the most important works of this genre and made Handel world-famous. The "Messiah" premiered over a quarter of a millennium ago, in 1742 in Dublin. The most renowned critics praised the oratorio immediately after its performance as the "most perfect work of music."

The Cantate Choir Zweisimmen is very pleased to perform this wonderful work together with the soloists and the orchestra of the Zweisimmen Concerts.
