After the ascent with the Wispile gondola, the trail starts on the left side of the mountain restaurant and then runs along the ridge of the Wispile to the "Chrinetritt". There the hiking trail splits, and the route follows the path leading right towards Gsteig. After this short descent to the alpine hut "Chrine", a short climb follows back to the "Chrine Pass". There you follow the hiking trail towards Lauenen and on a side road and hiking trail back to Gstaad and through the promenade. Leaving Gstaad, follow bike route no. 9 up to Schönried to the Horneggli valley station. After the ascent with the Horneggli chairlift, the route leads right beside the mountain station on the hiking trail towards Schönried. At the second junction, the route continues left and leads over Gruben and Oberbort back to Gstaad.

The route mainly leads over single trails and paved roads.

  • Approach

    The Gstaad holiday region is located in the southwest of Switzerland, right on the border to the French-speaking part of the country. The region is conveniently accessible by train or car from the Lake Thun region, the Lake Geneva area and the Gruyère district. Direct connections to the European high-speed train network and to all international airports in Switzerland guarantee a time-saving and comfortable arrival. The main means of transport in the Gstaad holiday region are the "MOB" train (Montreux-Oberland Bernois) and numerous PostBus lines.

  • From Gstaad station by bike to the Wispile valley station (10 minutes).

  • This route is not signposted on site. Use GPS. Please observe the operating times of the cable cars.

  • Mountain bike, weather-appropriate clothing and equipment, puncture repair kit and first aid kit.

  • A coffee break on the promenade in Gstaad before the next climb.
