The hike starts directly in the village of Lauenen, the panoramic path leads through the scattered settlement Tüffi. After a short forest section, you reach the beautiful hill just before "ufem Bort" to the Fondue Caquelon with a view of the Geltenschutz and Tungelschutz waterfalls and the magnificent mountain panorama. The way back leads down into the Rohr nature reserve and then back to the starting point


Access by mountain bike is possible.

Direct car access to the giant Fondue Caquelon is not possible!

  • Public Transport

    You can reach Lauenen directly by post bus to the starting point of the hike, bus stop: Lauenen b.Gstaad, Geltenhorn

    On the way back, there is the option to return by post bus. Bus stops: Lauenen b. Gstaad Bochte & Lauenen b. Gstaad, Tungel

  • The Geltenhorn Platz in Lauenen is a public parking lot

  • Lauenen village - Trüttli - usseri Tüffi - inneri Tüffi - unders Gürütschi - ufem Bort - Bochte - Rohr - Lauenen village

  • Fondue backpack (must be ordered the day before at the Lauenen village shop), good shoes, drinks for the way.

    The fondue backpack contains all ingredients for the irresistible outdoor experience: creamy classic or aromatic truffle fondue, crispy fondue bread, spices, a caquelon, spirit burner with fuel paste, plates, and forks.

  • A stop at the rustic mountain inn «Bochtehuus» or at Hotel Alpenland (check opening hours) is recommended. If you want to shorten the route, you can take the post bus on the way back (stop «under Tungel»)
