Ilva Eigus

22.08.2026 , Saturday

Born in 2007 in Zurich as the daughter of a Latvian mathematician and a Swiss jazz musician – the outstanding pianist Nik Bärtsch – Ilva Eigus is an extraordinary talent shaped by the unique school of Zakhar Bron. Ilva Eigus returns to Gstaad with a program dedicated to two composers who drew inspiration from the special surroundings of Switzerland: Johannes Brahms with his famous "Thun Sonata" and Tchaikovsky, who likely would never have completed his Violin Concerto without the uplifting (and calming!) atmosphere of Clarens near Montreux, located on the eastern northern shore of Lake Geneva. Alongside her is Richard Octaviano Kogima – as brilliant a pianist as he is a charismatic conductor, who already made waves at the Conducting Academy last year and impressively stepped into the spotlight as an extraordinary talent.
