Royal Philharmonic Orchestra | Vasily Petrenko & Thomas Hampson
28.08.2026 , Friday
The Guardian does not hesitate to describe the relationship between Thomas Hampson and the music of Gustav Mahler as "obsessive" – and indeed, their names have been inseparably connected since the first recordings in the 1980s under Leonard Bernstein, almost like that of Maria Callas and Verdi. On this extraordinary evening, the new professor and head of the Vocal Academy invites the festival guests to experience this musical passion up close and live – together with Vasily Petrenko and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, an equally prestigious ensemble where festival founder Yehudi Menuhin served as Principal Guest Conductor from 1959 to 1968.
