Sonic Experience | LGT Young Soloists
02.08.2026 , Sunday
This first evening in the Festival Tent Gstaad offers a true music-sensory experience, tracing the fascinating north-south encounter between Vivaldi's baroque Four Seasons and Piazzolla's passionate Estaciones Porteñas. At the center are the LGT Young Soloists, an elite ensemble founded in 2013 by the German violin virtuoso Alexander Gilman – a student of Dorothy DeLay and Zakhar Bron. The opening is already a sound cinema full of emotions: film scores of extraordinary suggestive power transport you into fascinating visual worlds. The symphonic work composed by multi-instrumentalist Devonté Hynes for the short film Naked Blue (by Mati Diop and Manon Lutanie) in 2022 impressively brings to life the touching story of a thirteen-year-old ballerina. For this occasion, Paul Bateman has newly arranged the soundtrack. Also on the program: Dolomites, Pale Mountains, a large-scale work in four movements created in 2025 by the Oscar-winning British composer Rachel Portman commissioned by the South Tyrol Festival Merano for its 40th anniversary. Inspired by the impressive photographs of the legendary Dolomites by artist Georg Tappeiner, a musical homage to the majestic beauty of this famous mountain world unfolds here.
