National Hiking Day 26 - big hike

The big loop of the National Hiking Day 2026 starts in Gstaad and initially leads towards Schönried. Soon it goes out into the open landscape: Over lush meadows where cows graze, one walks leisurely uphill on wide paths. The quiet surroundings invite exchange while the path slowly gains altitude. Those who turn around are rewarded with an impressive view back to Gstaad – including one of the region's most distinctive landmarks, the Gstaad Palace, before reaching Schönried. From here, one follows the well-known panorama trail towards Saanenmöser. After a short ascent to the Chessler, a magnificent view opens over the valley and the surrounding mountain peaks. Soon the return journey begins. The high path above Schönried accompanies you with ever new perspectives on the wide landscape. At the XXL Fondue Caquelon, there is an opportunity for a short stop. Afterwards, the path leads steadily downhill back to Gstaad. The view along this panorama trail is unbeatable. Then you walk back to Gstaad – into the promenade with its lively bustle, past beautiful chalets and small shops, where the tour finds its atmospheric conclusion.
