Winter balance

How did the 2024/25 winter season go from the Gstaad Saanenland Tourism's point of view?

We are satisfied with the 2024/25 winter season. The overall balance is positive, considering everything. Even though various service providers were able to write record sales again, there are also individual areas that did not quite achieve the expected sales, even though the snow conditions were good.

We were able to maintain and further increase the number of overnight stays, taking into account the fact that large accommodation capacities, such as those in Park Gstaad, are no longer available, compared to last winter. However, the March figures are not yet available. The ski destination of Gstaad benefited from the better snow conditions compared to the last two winter seasons, particularly around Christmas and New Year's Eve. The snow conditions were top from December to March. Ski slopes, cross-country trails and winter hiking trails - even those in the valley - could be operated continuously. The good snow conditions, for example, led to around 25 percent more cross-country ski passes being sold.

Was there anything unusual about this season?

The holidays up to and including New Year's Eve were fantastic in this winter season, thanks to the snow and the good weather - blue skies above, gray skies below. At times during the holidays, we only had one vacation apartment left for sale on our platform. The hotels and vacation apartments were practically fully booked from December 26. An indicative partner survey we conducted also shows that sales in many areas have again grown this year during the winter season. The winter season remains value-adding - relevant for this is the snow reliability, which must be further strengthened with technical snowmaking.
